A sweeping form carries a rabbit underneath the ear...
Earrings made from high resolution 3d printed wax and lost wax casting, hand polished to a smooth finish. Approximately 4.8cm (1.875") tall
To speak and to listen. Yin and yang talks about two opposite forces being complimentary. The two earrings feature the same design but with a slight inversion have become opposites of one another. As the V swoops up, one rabbit climbs on top and sits proud as if to speak to the ear. As the V swoops inward and down, the rabbit sits belly out, listening.
The Spring/Summer 2018 collection is based around the theme of balance. Fittingly, I photographed the three designs using my first-year architecture school model (painted white), a project using a blank site, relocating the landscape to balance the cut and fill, and creating harmony between the landscape and inserted abstract pieces. The personal obsession with balance is a struggle to find harmony in one's daily life; balancing life and work, art and business, passion and responsibility. I made these pieces as a reminder that balance is possible.
The design of the earrings takes a V like cross section and sweeps it along a curving line. The design features two variants that are the inversion of one another. The upright V features an upright rabbit standing proud of the form. The downward V features a rabbit sitting down. The rabbits were meticulously crafted using digital sculpting and handmade sketches.
